First Blood

The first review of STAY GOD is up at The Velvet. Huge thanks to Jesse for the kind words.

In related news, pre-orders begin this Friday 1 October. Don’t forget the Facespace contest, either: the 500th person to join the group gets a free copy, as well as the person who refered them.

Dig it, dudes.

Podcasts and Free Books

I just recorded a podcast over at The Velvet yesterday with the beautiful Pela Via, the brilliant Gordon Highland, the Sooth Effrickay Nic Young and the Richard Thomas. We discussed sex and violence in literature, the role of the love story in crime, horror and noir fiction, and how to tell the difference because hot scenes and porn. Good times had by all, with a surprisingly minimal amount of dick jokes. It should go live in the next week or two.

In STAY GOD news, I’m having a contest on the Facespace group. The 500th person to join the group will get a free copy of the book and some othe schwag, as well as the person who referred them. So tell your friends, because everyone like free stuff.

On writing and reading and exploding words

Shome Dasgupta was kind enough to let me ramble for a bit in his excellent Writers on Reading blog. I’m stoked to have my name next to so many excellent writers, and not with the disclaimer of ‘sounds nothing like’ or ‘definitely not featuring.’ Be sure to look through the archives; there are some gems in there.

On a side note, I’ll be at the Otherworld reading in Chicago on Saturday 16 October. It’s at Quimby’s in Wicker Park, so there’ll be cool books and great writers. It’ll be nice to meet some of the other OWP authors in person, as well. More details as they unfold.

Keep checking back as there will also be a few other readings and a release party for the novel in the coming months.

Some Weird Sin

So, as the release date for STAY GOD is drawing closer, I’ll start updating this more often. Fo real, this time. That being said, got a few cool things for you:

-The STAY GOD facespace group is alive and growing. Join up and invite your friends!

-I sent the final edits to Otherworld a few days ago, and we also have a final cover.

-I’m super stoked to not only have my signed, limited edition hardcover of Richard Thomas‘ TRANSUBSTANTIATE, but also to be able to announce that Brandon Tietz, Caleb Ross and Michael Sonbert have signed with Otherworld. It’s a testament to the vision of Lynn and Co at OWP that so many great indie writers are flocking to the press. As I hear more, I’ll pass along the good news.

More to come (and more frequently) as I think of it.
