Interview with The Goat
Mourning Goats, the excellent (sort of) new bi-monthly interview site, was kind enough to talk with me. We discuss giving away work for free–“I have no illusions about my future as a writer. I highly doubt (and Universe, feel free to make this statement look dumb in a couple years) I’ll ever be able to stay home and write books all day.”–my undying love for Ben Whitmer’s Pike–“I had the same reaction as the first time I read The Postman Always Rings Twice and Dermaphoria, The Long Trial of Nolan Dugatti, too.”–and of course, Shaun of the Dead and Spaced–“I’m hopelessly mired in pop culture and I think it comes through regardless of what I’m writing. Kind of like Spaced, but way more fucked up.”
I think I’m just going to keep talking about Shaun and Spaced until Simon Pegg or Edgar Wright write me a letter saying my level of nerd-dom makes their dorky hearts proud. New contest: Anyone who can swing that gets a free copy of anything I put out for the rest of my life.
Anyway, big thanks to Sean Ferguson for the questions and Goat for having me.
And again, don’t forget to enter the Stay God giveaway.
Godspeed
