Hairdresser on Fire

It’s got nothing to do with anything, but it’s on the radio now. Busy week, but here’s what I remember of it:

-I reviewed Chris Holm’s excellent collection 8 Pounds over at Spinetingler. You should buy it. Like, now.

-Speedloader, the first anthology from Snubnose Press, is now available at Smashwords. The Kindle edition should be up soon. I know I’ve said it before, but I’m really excited to be a part of this, around such fantastic writers, and with such a visionary press. And it’s only 99 cents! While you’re picking up 8 Pounds, grab that, too.

-I just got word from Laura and Pickney Benedict that my story ‘Eyes that Melt Wings’ will be included in the next edition of Surreal South alongside such writers as Jed Ayres, Anthony Neil Smith, John Hornor Jacobs, Sophie Littlefield, Brad Green and a whole rack of other great writers. Aside from being stoked to be in such a great anthology, it’s also the first time I’ve been called Southern (albeit only by 60 miles) without fighting it. Baltimore ain’t really southern, but my inclusion of ain’t in that declaration might contradict the declaration itself.

-I’m doing a couple readings with Jesus Angel Garcia in July. Sunday 10 July we’ll be at Farley’s in New Hope, PA from 1-4 then Saxby’s (I believe) in Doylestown around 6. Don Lafferty and Dennis Tafoya will join us in crashing the joint at Saxby’s. Many thanks to Buffy at Farley’s  and Don for helping us out with the second reading. Once I get back to Baltimore, I’ll be reading with Jesus again at Cyclops Books on 23 July. Not sure on the time, but it should be awesome.

More news I can’t yet talk about, coming next week or so. So instead, a sweater:

Godspeed
Nik
